hana relay_training day 1

today my training for da hana relay started. i hav two months plus some days to get in shape. days leading into today i continued to ask myself what was i f#@%&^ thinking, even as to postpone da start date and coming up wit excuses to not run and drink instead. den i realized dat it was #fourteen on my bucket list.......i always wanted to do it, dis was a chance for me to cross this of my list. i den committed and bought new running shoes and the nike+ sensor to help make running fun.

i tell you wat, these nike lunarelites feel really great. my first run felt like da shoes already hav been broken in. a plus dat i really liked was dat, as i ran i could feel cool breezes rushing through the shoes and cooling off my toes keeping my feet comfortable in da 90+ degree weather. best shoes i hav bought so far and satisfied with it, though a hundred dollars for da shoe is a bit much.

putting these shoes on i didn't think i was going to be able to complete the 3mi. run dat i had previously mapped with my cars odometer. preparing to head out i had a checklist.......asthma pump - check, muzic - check, bottle water - check. before dis run i felt really gud, focused and motivated off of da first steps. da route i took had moderate inclines, declines and straightaways.........i wanted it all for my first run. during da first half mile something in me sed i could go all da way, not to just complete it but to complete it running. funny how you get so focused dat u forget about da world around you. yet for split seconds along da run u easily smell da freshly painted crosswalks and overpriced gas being consumed, see sprinkler systems creating rainbows and friendly shakas amongst strangers as u pass, feel loose gravel being disturbed as u take a step and da sweat running down your spine whilst being sunkist by da sun. a few things i learned wit day 1 iz dat it is more mental den physical, muzic iz like redbull for da little engine dat could and all i needed was a 16 oz. bottle water to quench my thirst keeping me hydrated.

jus redesigned my blog hoping to put more time into it. life's an adventure where ideas become tangible and thoughts keep you guessing. i went from a designers state of mind to a transparent (mindset)-me wanting to become a radiographer, which would let me live da lifestyle dat i wanted. well i get there?.....i don't know, but i'm greatful for my third or fourth chance if there ever is that many in life. i am willing to accept failure in order for success, guess that's what life is all about.......taking chances.

warning: i do know how to spell, but i just don't care to be proper.

new year, new goals and new possibilites.

zune_lovin it

currently i have the latest zune desktop titled intergalactic swapmeet. i think its fun and worldly . characters are extremely interesting and cute plus the mate unlike any other. lately zune has been putting out some really cool ads created by all sorts of motion houses. the compositions are creative and very well done. u think their holding back on cash, probably not. anyway i just wanted to share my fascination for what i call zune_lovin it. puts a smile to my face every time i watch it :). you can download your own desktop and watch the video at http://zune-arts.net/. aloha.

t4_final project

our goal was to find a film company for ex: paramount, lions gate, pixar, etc. and try to recreate their intro. my reference was the lions gate intro with the opening of the gate to reveal the lion and name. i took that and tricked it up a bit by playing with the neon look and feel. amazing what a little audio can do to your work. if i have something to say, is that i would spend just as much time on the audio as you would the motion piece it self. me likey, likey a lot, very pleased and happy with this one. so here's the vid and enjoy. please feel free to let me know what you think.

dvd_insert

finally done with my insert..........i think? roger and ebert gives it a 5 star rating, so go and watch it now. so now that i'm done with the insert it's time i get my hands a little dirty and actually make the dvd menus, sub menus, chapters and all dat hoop la process thingy dat goes on with this dvd project.

so this is what i came up with after fiddling around with the mouse. i ended up keeping it in illustrator and kept it more simple. don't know what else to say. cheers!

dvd cover_eclectic superheroes

my first go at my dvd cover. i have various cartoon footage of superman, mighty mouse and bugs bunny. i decided to go with a super hero theme and focus on their smiles. cool colors rounded out the color palette. don't know what else i should do or whether to bring it in photoshop or keep it in illustrator. wat to do......wat to do.

fooooooood!

oh so hungry. its hard to work when foods on your mind, but when is it not. i'm actually waiting for my trip to maui cuz i'v been craving the macadamian nut crusted mahi mahi stuffed with lobster and crab topped with a pineapple beurre blanc sauce. here,s a secret you can actually get it with the wasabi beurre blanc. seared ahi, shoyu poke and fresh sashimi to start. to top it off the creme brulee in the end is a must mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. just thought i'd write what was on my mind. bak to work now. here's a peak from the table looking outside.

abc's_of typography

after a lot of swearing and hair pulling i managed to get things right at least i think i did. here is my cover for the abc's of typography book that we're creating in our print design class. my aimed target audience are elementary students. i wanted a simple layout and used a light shade of blue to help my book be inviting as well as using it through out the composition. i decided to add the magnifier to say that typography is something worth looking at in detail, in that there's more to typography then fonts and size. so if you look deeper there's a whole shett of knowledge to help you as a designer. the question now is which one should i choose black or white? if any of you have any suggestions feel free to let me know.

a cry for help

this here was a side project i started out a month ago and finally completed. it was a contest sprung from unicef in collaboration with unite against aids to produce a 30-60sec video. there were some stressful times about direction, composition, song, and everything in between. the overall objective was to find the mood and story line to somehow connect the audience to the video. i played with color corrections and in the end the black and white won out with little color to them. i chose sarah mclachlan's world on fire song because i think it touches the heart better than the rest of those i had to choose from as do all her other ones. with this project i went through about 5 different iterations before i felt satisfied with the video.

my 2nd project assignment for 3d and one that had no reference but the name itself a music television channel in new zealand. i liked the name juice and stuck musik next to it because it sounded really well together. i was playing around with the cloner object and set it to linear also animating the strength value. the spline effector was also added to link the spheres to the text spline. the lights in the background was the only thing with the sound effector attribute. being that it was done in a day i am satisfied on how it turned out, though the song wasn't a personal choice and cuckoo was the only song i had in a music format at the time. i think it went fairly well with the composition. everything is in 3d with a little bit of after effects work in the end. drink up.
